Twin Cities Eats: Price Fix at Tongue in Cheek

Believe it or not, my first night back in the Twin Cities was celebrated with a 12 course meal at the incredible Tongue in Cheek on St. Paul's east side.  It was incredible, and there was an astonishing amount of food for $100!  Seriously incredible. (and the Star Tribune agrees!)

"What Came First" - a sous vide egg yolk deep fried and served on cracklins

"Berries and Bubbly" - this is, for all intents and purposes, an adult version of a gusher, nestled in a sherry-sized glass of champagne.  It is so, so good.

In fact, their entire method of serving taster cocktails in sherry glasses or a different wine with each course...I can't handle how fun that is.  This course was "Tickle My Tiny Pickle" gin, dry vermouth, and cornichon brine, and burrata with tomato (so good).

Sake with potato gnocchi over pea tendrils with froth.

"Goldi-Lox" - gravlox with horseradish, dill, and salmon roe
"Cross-eyed Mary" - bloody mary infused gin, garlic, and sriracha (this was so intriguing!  It was like the Serious Eats gazpacho flavor in gin)

"Scallops and Mashers" - that scallop, I just can't even.  I need how to learn how to make great scallops.  And where to buy them in Minnesota!

"Pork Belly with Red Curry" - Tongue in Cheek is particularly known for their many and varied renditions of pork belly, and this was so tasty.

"Braised Short Rib Bowl" - with more mashed potatoes!  It was just so good.

"Northern Lights Blue Cheese" - with a blue cheese dust!  And my first taste of Surly, a famous local brew.

"Passion of the Ice" - passionfruit ice with a passionfruit sphere and a bit of jalapeño
"Mother of Dragons" - jalapeño-infused Jim Beam, mathilde peche (peach liqueur), orange juice (holy smokes, what a kick!)

"Ode to the Dome" - a grown-up s'more with peanut dust, a thick chocolate ganache, marshmallow, buttermilk foam, and toffee....plus their homemade irish cream! 

By this point in the meal, you practically needed to roll us home.  I can't wait to go back!
